GENDER

We asked 14 males and 16 females. We tried to even out the gender as much as we could so we could get a more even view on hair from both sides of gender.


AGE

Everybody we asked was students and library staff at Priestley college and were aged between 16 and 25. This helps us find what the younger audience want to watch on television.



WHAT TIME DO YOU WATCH TELEVISION THE MOST?

93% of our audience said that they watch television at night time as the other 7% said they watch television in the daytime, so to attract this audience we will be putting our documentary on in the daytime/evening. This also means that we will be competing with some of the other primetime programmes on the television at daytime/evening, so our documentary has to be hammock-ing between programmes or before or after.



HOW OFTEN DO YOU WATCH DOCUMENTARIES?

When we asked our audience how often they watch documentaries the majority of people had said they watch documentaries once a week. As a result of this we will have to be careful where we put our documentary. This means that we need to make sure our documentary is really good and stand out to make people watch it.




WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURUITE COLOUR?

When we asked what peoples favourite colour there was a tie between red and blue. This is helpful information as it gives an insight as to what colour the graphics will be in the documentary.




IS YOUR HAIR COLOUR NATURAL AT THE MOMENT?

We asked our target audience if they had natural hair or whether it was dyed. 22 of 30 people asked had natural hair; the other 8 had dyed hair.




WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON YOUNG PEOPLES HAIR TODAY?

We asked our target audience their opinion on young peoples hair today and we got two results that came up from the majority of people. The two results were stylish and too much dye. We found that 20 people said that it was stylish and 8 people said there was too much dye. The other 2 people gave different responses. This can be viewed as contradictory as many of the people we asked were young themselves.




HOW OFTEN DO YOU GO TO THE HAIRDRESSERS?

We asked how often our target audience go to the hairdressers. Our results say that 67% of our target audience go to the hairdressers once a month and only one person goes once a week. Therefore this means our documentary will be interesting to them as they care about there hair.




HAVE YOU EVER DYED YOUR HAIR IN THE PAST?

This means that although most of the people in our research have now got natural hair colour, in the past they have dyed there hair. This means that they will have experience and enjoy watching a documentary with content about hair dye.




DO YOU USE HAIR CARE PRODUCTS?

Hair care products are used a lot by our target audience and many of them named the products they used, hair straighteners and hairspray are used a lot by both male and female. For boys hair gel was also used a lot. Therefore our audience will care about there hair styles and take pride in how they appear.




WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HAIR LENGTH?

We asked our target audience about their preferred hair length, long and mid length hair was the most popular, however short was close behind. This gives us something to research, as to why long hair and bald head is least popular of the lot. This means that the preferred hair leng5th of long and mid may be due to the media/fashion and advertisements.




DO MALES CARE MORE ABOUT THEIR HAIR THEN FEMALES?

Finally we asked whether males care about their hair more than females, the results were close, 12 people agreed and said males do care about their hair more but the other 18 said that females care for their hair more. This may show diferen5t attitudes towards male grooming.
